Vitaly Ignatyev: Pridnestrovians facing pressure for strategic choice of maximum integration with Russia

"Pridnestrovie is at the forefront of the Russian Federation's struggle for the rights and interests of the Russian world," said the diplomat

Moscow, 19 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pressure on Pridnestrovie, exerted chiefly by the neighbours (Moldova and Ukraine, ed.), is exclusively politically motivated, said Pridnestrovie's acting foreign minister, Vitaly Ignatyev, during a news conference at MIA Rossiya Segodnya.

«Our population is experiencing pressure for its strategic choice of maximum integration with Russia, into Eurasian integration structures. The referendum of 2006 has determined the priorities of our foreign policy, our national idea, and we are trying to implement them in a systemic and consistent manner," underscored Vitaly Ignatyev.

«It is evident that the pro-European choice of our neighbours — Ukraine and Moldova — does not in any way correlate with our policy. In this connection, our partners, including negotiation partners, use any opportunity to restrict out socio-economic potential in order to provoke poverty, block political mechanisms of making decisions," said the minister.

Vitaly Ignatyev noticed that the country cannot stay long under permanent pressure and there is a growing demand in the Pridnestrovian society for some responsive actions.

«Our citizens are deported from Kishinev airport and are subjected to thorough examinations. With regard to all these factors, we can say Pridnestrovie is at the forefront of the Russian Federation's struggle for the interests and rights of the Russian world, for the possibility of living on our own land and within a civilisation paradigm that is determined by people," said the diplomat.
