Tiraspol, 4 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today, the acting head of the State Agency for Mass Media, Inna Deleva, was a guest on Radio 1. She spoke about the goals and tasks of the new agency and its near-term outlook.
Inna Deleva headed the new state agency on 21 January pursuant to the governmental decree. Its predecessor, the State Agency for Communications, Information and Mass Media, was part of the Ministry of Regional Development, Transportation and Communications.
«The main task of the state agency, in any form and under any head, is the implementation of the citizens' right for information. Our task is to ensure the work of the mass media, first of all state-run media outlets, in such a way that citizens have the right and opportunity to learn more about our country's socio-political, economic and cultural life. I believe all our state-run media provides such coverage that people can obtain exhaustive information," said Inna Deleva.
She expressed desire that the mass media did not only serve as a source of information, but also as an interlocutor, explaining or interpreting a problem or a decision.
«As for public authorities, I think we must be more like a turning fork for them — a bell. Unfortunately, we generally set to work when some incident has already occurred, for instance, when a pipe has burst. Our task is to be the bell that can signal that the pipe is going to burst soon. [Our task is] to raise topics of public concern," underscored Inna Deleva.
Speaking about short-range plans, Inna Deleva said she had an idea of gathering editors-in-chief of state-run media outlets in a certain council to discuss important and interesting events that must be covered. Besides, there were plans to invite different foreign journalists to Pridnestrovie and enable Pridnestrovian journalists to visit information platforms abroad.
