Pridnestrovie's foreign minister: Moldova triggering actions aimed to disrupt peacekeeping operation

This is what Vitaly Ignatyev said on Russia 24

Tiraspol, 7 December. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pridnestrovie's foreign minister, Vitaly Ignatyev, told the Russia 24 channel about the current status of negotiation on the Pridnestrovian settlement and the peacekeeping operation carried out under the auspices of Russia. Referring to the latter, Vitaly Ignatyev highlighted the uniqueness and efficiency of the present peacekeeping format.

«It should be noted that the present peacekeeping format is unique. It has been well received by the population, and no person has been killed over these years. There haven't problems other peacekeeping missions face. This is a model operation, and this unique joint experience may be applied to settle other conflicts," said the diplomat.

The minister also mentioned that Moldova had boosted its cooperation with NATO and there were talks in Kishinev about the necessity to transform the peacekeeping operation.

«Pridnestrovie has always stood for the deployment of the Russian peacekeepers in the region until the conflict is ultimately settled. Our Russian partners share this position. Moldova formally abides by the agreements it signed in 1992. However, we know their political aspirations as they try to transform the current operation format into an international mission with unclear goals and tasks," he said, adding that Moldova is triggering actions aimed to disrupt the peacekeeping operation.

Vitaly Ignatyev underscored that politicians issuing political statements about the transformation of the operation format must bear responsibility and realise this virtually means «the withdrawal from the 1992 agreement and, consequently, the return to a state of war.»
