Pridnestrovie's youth again take part in Commonwealth of Independent States project

Pridnestrovians have participated in the project since 2012. Over this time, they have managed not only to train skills of the artistic presentation of the state, but also reap the first fruits: according to contest organiser Alexander Sotsenko, Pridnestrovie's image has become more recognisable in the former Soviet territory

Tiraspol, 25 November. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. To take part in the contest, the young people had to prepare two artistic presentations of the republic. The video presentation made by Pridnestrovian State University students with the assistance of the First Pridnestrovian TV channel tells the history of the PMR through the prism of the most important historical dates.

According to the students, «the Russian culture, uniting nations, has a special place in Pridnestrovie», clarifies the website of Pridnestrovie's young diplomats. «Therefore, the country's special attitude towards its own historical past and prospects for the future is based exclusively on the idea of communion with Russia," say the students.

The second presentation was a musical performance My Land's Heart by undergraduate student Yekaterina Pastukh. The presentation was accompanied with a slide show dedicated to the university's life.

Today, PSU has organised a video conference with the Kamchatka region (Russia) to summarise the Pridnestrovian youth's participation in the project. For half an hour the kids answered questions asked by the jury, lecturers and other teams.

Among them was a question about the prospects for international recognition of Pridnestrovie. According to the adviser to Pridnestrovie's foreign minister, Vera Tabak, taking into account a status quo on this issue among other states, Pridnestrovie actively employs public diplomacy to promote its positive image as a de facto state, having all legal grounds for international recognition.

According to her, Pridnestrovie is not a 'black hole' in the public perception, but rather a 'white spot', and in this connection it is necessary to continue and intensify the work towards the development of the country's positive image.

At the end of the conference, the participants expressed desire to continue communication within both this and new projects.
