The automatic fare collection system to be installed in public transport, said the deputy minister of regional development, transport and communications, Arthur Shilker. The presentation of the system took place on 23 October.
As Arthur Shilker has clarified to Novosti Pridnestrovya, this system will be adopted by three transport enterprises affiliated with the regional development ministry, that is, the carriers conducting local, intercity and international transportation service.
The deputy minister said the vehicles of the companies who has joined the project will be equipped with a scanner monitoring the number of passengers on board. This will help to hold online monitoring of transport flow distribution and prevent rogue drivers from embezzling the fare collected from the passengers who have not bought tickets in advance. According to Arthur Shilker, the implementation of the system will make drivers' taxation more transparent.
The automatic system is introduced as an alternative to the existing procedure: tickets can still be bought at bus station ticket offices.
