The implementation of Textbook and School projects is still under way in Pridnestrovie. As Novosti Pridnestrovya News Agency has reported, primary and secondary schoolchildren have already been supplied with modern textbooks. Now books are being distributed among high school students.

The process of distribution has been supervised today by the vice premier, head of Price and Antimonopoly Committee, Vitaliy Ulitka, and the minister of education, Tatyana Tsiviskaya. The cabinet members have visited School 3 and 15 in Tiraspol and Gymnasium 1 and 2 in Bendery.

As was noted by Vitaliy Ulitka in a dialogue with high school students, the books meet all contemporary Russian standards, which is especially important when preparing to enter a university. «The quality of your education will enhance, therefore, you may have the same opportunities as do Russian children," he said.

According to Vitaliy Ulitka, 68,000 textbooks for 10−11 grades were supplied to Pridnestrovie. On the whole, as part of the Russo-Pridnestrovian project, Pridnestrovie's Russian-language schools will receive 517,000, thus completely renewing their didactic literature stock.

«This unprecedented project became possible owing to the initiative of President Yevgeny Shevchuk and assistance of Dmitry Rogozin and Russia's President Putin," said the vice prime minister.

Tatyana Tsivinskaya recalled the students that no fee is charged for using these books. The minister also discussed with 11th grade students the preparation for upcoming final exams. She noted that students might have to write a final essay the following spring as an access to Centralised Testing in Russian and literature. The final decision would be taken in the nearest time by the Education Board.

As both Bendery gymnasiums and Tiraspol schools are included in the School programme, the government members also inspected repair works in these institutions. Vitaliy Ulitka underscored that the repair works were under way according to the schedule and the works would be finished before the cold weather. «The main thing now is window replacement. In one school 50% of windows were replaced, and in another 35%. In this gymnasium, for example, all gym windows have been replaced," the vice premier said.

The vice prime minister noted that the Textbook project is entering its final phase. Tomorrow textbooks will be distributed in Grigoriopol and Dubossary district schools, following which 100% of didactic literature stock in Russian-language schools will be renewed.
