Another Russian journalist in focus of Moldova's security agencies

On his Facebook page Ilya Azarov has commented on the incident which took place in Kishinev Airport

«Brave Moldovan border guards and special agents suddenly stopped me during passport control in Kishinev (on my way back to Moscow), took me to their room and thoroughly searched my personal luggage. They read my interview with Nastase, asked whom I met in Kishinev, ordered me to switch on my laptop and cell phones, but I refused to reveal the passwords. They did not let me make phone calls, threatened to detain me.

According to him, they made copies of his notebook and dictaphone records.

«After that they forget about his laptop and cell phones at once, gave them back and took him to the plane, although I cried loudly it was illegal and violated freedom of press, the right to keep secret my sources, and human morality, in general. Even their Ukrainian colleagues, who do not show special affection to Russian journalists, did not permit themselves this (they just sent me back two times right after my arrival, which I think is more humane)," underscores Azarov on his Facebook page.

Ilya Azarov came to Kishinev to cover the latest protests. The journalist met the Moldovan politicians, participating in the protests organised by the Dignity and Truth organisation.
