Yevgeny Shevchuk recalled that there has recently been aggravation of the situation around Pridnestrovie in Ukraine. This includes the ban on the movement of male Russian citizens through the Ukranian border, additional military build-up near our border along with the erection of fortification works and of course the information campaign carried out in Ukraine's media for over a year.
«Our special forces have estimated that 90% of information which was presented by Ukrainian journalists about Prtidnestrovie is false. Our citizens are very much concerned over these actions. Every person I talked to asks for peace, and first of all those who fought in 1992," said the president.
He underscored that Pridnestrovie is still hoping to resume a substantive dialogue with Ukraine.
«Throughout this period, whatever difficult it might be, we haven't moved our troops to Ukraine's border and haven't equipped our border units with additional weapon. All the while we have been plodding our way through our domestic problems, hoping that our partners will not be guided by negative speculations and conclusions," underscored Yevgeny Shevchuk.
According to the head of state, the appointment of Ukraine's new ambassador to Moldova gives promise for the resumption of substantive work with the neighbouring country's authorities.
«About a month or a month and a half ago Ukrainian embassy spokespersons came to Tiraspol for the first time over this difficult period to take part in exchange of views, which, I think, was very constructive. We hope very much that the newly appointed Ukrainian ambassador will liven up the work in this area. From our part, we are ready to meet, discuss and, what is more, solve problems of our citizens and economic agents," said the president.
