These funds have been received as humanitarian assistance from various Russian regions. The money has been allocated for the reconstruction of war memorials to the Heroes of the Great Patriotic War, Novosti Moldova reports.
Russian regions have transferred about RUR 100 million in the past 15 years for the reconstruction of war burials and memorials in Moldova. Sixty memorials to the Heroes of the Great Patriotic War have already been reconstructed, says Nikolai Gutsul, head of the Veche organisation, in his letter of thanks addressed to Sergey Zhvachkin, governor of the Tomsk region.
Nikolai Gutsul has also thanked the governor for his assistance in publishing the second edition of his book «They Fought against Fascism».
«This book includes information on the native Moldovan soldiers who fought in the ranks of the Red Army, as well as the Soviet soldiers who defended the republic in 1941 and who liberated it from the Nazi in 1944," he said.
Together with the letter, Nikolai Gutsul has sent to the Tomsk governor a memorable souvenir — a bronze bell with a presentation inscription.
