The Prosecutor General of Moldova declared that the operation was organized together with the authorities of Romania. The criminal scheme was organized as follows: Moldovan part of criminal group transported boxes of cigarettes to the border and then transported them to Romania by rubber boats. The contraband was received in the territory of the neighboring state and was sold in the black market.
After house-check at some suspects, five more people were detained this morning; two of them were the border police officers from the West Regional Department. Their task was to assist the illegal transportation of cigarettes.
