Pridnestrovie's MFA came out with a statement on the incident which took place on 20 April 2015 in the Kishinev airport with the involvement of Pridnestrovie's foreign ministry employee
The text of the MFA statement is given unchanged:
«On 20 April 2015 Moldova's border police detained in the Kishinev airport an advisor to Pridnestrovie's foreign minister, Dmitri Palamarchuk, in order to perform a thorough personal search.
The border police officers actually hampered the departure of the representative of Pridenstrovian delegation who was going to Vienna to participate in special informal 5+2 format consultations.
The Moldovan side deliberately created the situation so that the Pridnestrovian diplomat might miss the flight and be late for the scheduled consultations.
Attention must be given to the fact that representatives of the other «Permanent Conference …» delegations, including OSCE, were present in the airport during the incident, but none of them became subject to a thorough personal search. Besides, Moldova's delegation led by the chief negotiator, Victor Osipov, was going to Vienna on the same flight.
It should be emphasized that earlier Pridnestrovie's and Moldova's leaders had reached an agreement on a simplified movement procedure for Moldovan and Pridnestrovian citizens in the period of Easter holidays and memorial days.
We regard those actions by the Moldovan side as a premeditated demarche aimed at preventing Pridnestrovie's delegation from participating in the informal consultations in Vienna.
This incident is an irrelevant demonstration by Moldova of coercive and discrimination policies against representatives of the Pridnestrovian delegation in the 5+2 format talks, which is evidence of Moldova's perverted approach, contradicting to the fundamentals of the negotiation process.
Such actions, violating previous agreements, including the protocol decision «On Some Aspects of Freedom of Movement», show Moldova's irresponsible attitude to observing them.
Increase in the number of incidents in the Kishinev airport goes counter to the Moldovan leadership's declarations on «new» approaches towards the process of regulating relations with Pridnestrovie and as such is the demonstration by Moldova of its former biased policy aimed at restricting rights and freedoms of Pridnestrovian citizens.
We urge Moldova to refuse such destructive actions, undermining fragile confidence between the sides, and direct its efforts to mobilisation of the necessary political resources to avoid situations leading to escalated political tensions between the sides.
The Pridnestrovian side emphasises that it is Moldova that must be charged with overall responsibility for possible consequences in the relations with Pridnestrovie.
