It should be noted that at the end of February Dafina Gercheva replaced the former Permanent Representative of the UNDP in RM Nicola Harrington-Buhay.
As the Deputy Prime Minister on International Cooperation, the Foreign Minister Nina Shtanski noted opening a meeting, Pridnestrovie traditionally develops constructive and partner dialogue with the UN.
«Our cooperation develops in quite delicate directions: the improvement of social infrastructure and the healthcare system improvement, i.e. response to such hazards as AIDS, tuberculosis, drug addiction and support of the physically disabled people. All this is a very large and important work of your colleagues from the UNDP, the UNICEF and other organizations. We appreciate their engagement," the diplomat told to the UN representatives.
The head of the foreign policy department emphasized that development of the relations with the UN is one of the important directions of the Pridnestrovie's foreign policy.
In turn, the UN and UNDP Permanent Representative in Moldova Dafina Gercheva noted that he plans to expand further cooperation with Pridnestrovie. She added that the main aim of the UN and UNDP is to increase the people's wellbeing.
«We have already entered into cooperation with a number of strategic partners implementing several initiatives and improving the wellbeing of the Pridnestrovie's people. We are glad to continue working in the same way in order to improve the living standards, the quality of services, the atmosphere and conditions," Dafina Gercheva emphasized.
It's important to note that the one of the common projects implemented in Pridnestrovie by the UN is aimed to enhance trust between both banks of the Dniester River. The aim of the second project is to develop the use of energy from the renewable sources.
Within a meeting, the parties also discussed further implementation of Thomas Hammarberg's recommendations.
«In particular, we talked that it it was necessary to provide the inclusive education and render support in tuberculosis response," Dafina Gercheva told.
As Nina Shtanski emphasized, the Ministry of Social Security and Labor does well in decreasing the number of orphanages and similar specialized institutions in the republic, and at the same succeeds in creation of conditions for the foster families where children can get all the things needed.
«Our department has extensive plans in construction of the children's village, and it is impossible to fulfill such plans without any foreign help. We would like our partners from the UN to continue working on the existing vital directions," the Foreign Minister concluded.
