President meets withDubossary‘s defenders of Pridnestrovie

The meeting participants have discussed the region's current socio-economic situation and its problems

During today's visit to Dubossary as part of the Republican Memorial Day of the Defenders of Pridnestrovie Fallen during the Armed Conflict with Moldova,Yevgeny Shevchuk has met with the city's union of the republic's defenders.

During the meeting with members of the public organization, the President has noted that local budget costs are more than double the budget revenues; therefore, only socially protected expense items are funded.

"Dubossary receives transfers (from the republican budget, ed.) to pay salaries, pensions and benefits, the total value of which is about 300 million rubles," the head of state has noted.

The most important issue the defenders showed interest in is the necessity of  increasing control over tender actions in the city and the district.

According to the head of the union, Alexander Paskal, the public procurement procedure in the Dubossary district does not comply with the regulations and is often conducive to stealing the budget funds.

To this end, the President has ordered the Interior Ministry's Economic Crime Department and the Procuracy to make an audit of the concluded contracts based on the tenders conducted.

"If such facts are determined and confirmed, the persons (responsible, ed.) will be put on trial," Yevgeny Shevchuk has underscored.

The head of state has also declared that he will make a request for the Audit Chamber to investigate into the tenders conducted.

"It must be admitted that tender regulations are easy to evade, and they should be revised," Yevgeny Shevchuk has summarized.

The President has instructed the head of Dubossary and Dubossary district to include members of the public in the tender board and see that information on government procurements will be posted on the district administration's web site.

During the meeting the participants have also discussed the issues of land tenure, district's fiscal performance, and awarding defenders of Pridnestrovie and members of their families badges of honour.
