Moldova is planning to get Pridnestrovie into a lot of trouble

PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev spoke about the results of the meeting with Moldovan Political Representative Vasily Shova

The previous day, in Chisinau, in preparation for the meeting of the Moldovan-Russian Intergovernmental Commission, to which the Pridnestrovian side was also invited, a meeting of political representatives from Moldova and Pridnestrovie Vasily Shova and Vitaly Ignatiev was held.

The Pridnestrovian side prepared a package of proposals for inclusion in the agenda of the commission meeting. A total of 11 questions were proposed, number one - the problem of closing Pridnestrovian enterprises accounts by Republic of Moldova banks.

As the PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev noted, during the meeting his Moldovan counterpart said that he had not been ready to discuss technical issues in details, therefore, no intelligible explanations had been received from the Moldovan side.

“It is noteworthy that Mr. Shova, speaking of the fact that he did not intend to politicize the issue of banks, at the same time he outlined political demands, saying that the problem had not happened by chance, and Pridnestrovie had to expect series of problems,” the head of Pridnestrovian diplomacy said.

According to him, this situation "clearly demonstrates the return of an inadequate approach in relations with Pridnestrovie."

“The situation has extremely negative consequences of an economic and humanitarian nature. We also spoke about the consequences, and about the fact that this may affect all levels of the dialogue with Chisinau,” Vitaly Ignatiev said.

At the same time, as the Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized, there was no alternative to dialogue, and the banking issue needed to be discussed at different negotiation platforms, including with the participation of international mediators.

“Without international participation, it is very difficult to solve problems and move the dialogue off the ground, so it is extremely important for us to maintain a negotiating context with wide international participation. This is an international conflict, no matter how much the Moldovan side wants not to accept reality, and it must be resolved at the international level,” the diplomat said.

According to him, the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission is an excellent occasion to discuss pressing issues on the negotiation agenda.

“If Chisinau does not want to discuss these issues or impedes work in this direction, the meaning of participation in this mechanism is lost. We need a result. Moldova, on the contrary, eliminates all the mechanisms for solving it, tries to replace the current agenda, in which a lot of unfinished homework, with new problems, scribbles these problems. And here is one of the topical issue - bank accounts that we are currently dealing with,” the Minister added.

Tiraspol plans to raise the problem of closing accounts in Moldovan banks during a meeting of political representatives on 12 September.

Recall: on September 5, the Moldovan commercial bank, in which the accounts of a number of Pridnestrovian enterprises had been opened, blocked all operations. Economic entities received a notification demanding to close the account. Thus, the Pridnestrovian importers are not able to purchase goods and make settlements with foreign partners.

The meeting of the Moldovan-Russian Intergovernmental Commission is due to take place next week.
