Tiraspol, April 15. / Novosti Pridnestrovya/. From April 11 to April 14 in Minsk there took place the Belarus Open table tennis championship among people with disabilities. Competitions were held in the «Minsk arena» sports complex. 57 para-athletes from the 1st on the 10th competitive classes practically from all regions of Belarus and also from Lithuania and Pridnestrovie participated there. Our republic was represented by Dmitry Kuzuk from Bendery.
The championship took place in conditions of bitter struggle and opposition, each athlete was ready for a victory. An excellent game was shown by all competitors. In the final four, there were Sergey Feshchenko, Gintaras Zavatskis, Dmitry Kuzuk and Anatoly Gronsky.
The bitter struggle took place between the Master of Sports Sergey Feshchenko and the Lithuanian athlete Gintaras Zavatskis (the 4-5th competitive class) and also Dmitry Kuzuk and Anatoly Gronsky (the 4-5th competitive class).
«Everyone had a difficult way to the final stage of the championship, besides the last games went one by one, applicants for the highest awards had no time for rest», – the trainer of the Bendery tennis player Natalya Bordan told.
As a result, the highest award of the championship was won by Gintaras Zavatskis, the silver medal went to Dmitry Kuzuk, Sergey Feshchenko became the third.
«We were adjusted only on championship gold. Nevertheless, I am happy with Dmitry's result as leaders of table tennis participated in competitions. I consider that this award is a result of persistence and a responsible approach to preparation for the championship. In 2016 we were title holders of the Championship, this year it was not possible, we will prepare for the next championship in 2020», - Natalya Bordan concluded.
Winners were awarded diplomas and medals.
