Tiraspol, March, 27. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. In the PMR Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there took place a meeting between the head of the department, Vitaly Ignatiev, and the head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Klaus Neukirch.
Opening the meeting, Vitaly Ignatiev noted the systematic nature of contacts with the OSCE and expressed gratitude to the Mission for its active work in the framework of expert (working) groups activities, and also spoke in favor of speeding up the negotiation process with the Republic of Moldova.
The press service of the Pridnestrovian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that in turn, Klaus Neukirch confirmed his readiness for further active cooperation in the framework of the negotiation process.
“I believe that it is important to continue the dialogue during the formation of the state power and government in Chisinau. We need to find solution to existing issues,” the Head of the OSCE Mission said.
The interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues related to the current situation in relations between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova. In particular, there was an exchange of views on the implementation of the agreements reached in 2017–2018, including those in the field of education, motor transport, as well as the full use of the bridge over the Dniester River in the villages of Bychok and Gura-Bikului.
As part of the discussion, Vitaly Ignatiev drew attention to the long-standing standstill in the interaction at the level of representatives on the political issues of the parties and in this context, he announced the need to continue the dialogue in this format. According to the diplomat, there are certain problems in the framework of the work of relevant experts, in addition, there are difficulties with the practical implementation of a number of agreements.
“In this context, we once again spoke in favor of the need to hold a meeting of political representatives as soon as possible. I am ready for this meeting and I hope that, given the completion of certain political processes in the neighboring state, we will see a more systematic and responsible position of the Moldovan partners. I think that our dialogue, which was conducted quite intensively over the past years, will reach a more effective level,” the head of the Pridnestrovian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said during communication with the media after the meeting.
Vitaly Ignatiev added that as part of the discussion, the Pridnestrovian side addressed to the head of the OSCE Mission an official proposal to hold an international meeting in the “Permanent Conference ...” format.
“I passed to Mr. Ambassador our appeal with the initiative to hold the meeting as soon as possible in the 5 + 2 format and, in general, to begin a more systematic work in the negotiations, since people's lives depend on it. Many questions now need to be resolved, so I hope that the active participation of international partners, mediators in the person of the OSCE, the Russian Federation, Ukraine and observers will help to ensure that the communication in the negotiations ends with concrete results. That is what we aim at,” the head of the PMR Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded.
