President meets French ambassador to Moldova Pascal Le Denf

The interlocutors exchanged views on a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda and outlined plans for further cooperation

Tiraspol, 26 April. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President Vadim Krasnoselsky met Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Moldova Pascal Le Denf, the presidential press service reports.

It was the first visit of the French diplomat to Pridnestrovie after the appointment.

"We have a good opportunity to discuss all issues related to the relations between Pridnestrovie and France. There are many historical links between our countries. Our countries have much in common today as well - culture, economics, humanitarian issues," said the president, welcoming the guest.

Pascal Le Denf thanked Vadim Krasniselsky for the reception and said that he was requested to confirm France and the European Union's interest in a peaceful settlement of the range of problematic issues in relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova.

"Advocating the preservation of peace and security in Europe, France also supports the tools that have been created to protect them," said the ambassador. The diplomat also added that France is convinced of the active and positive role of the OSCE in ensuring a sustainable dialogue through negotiations in the "5 +2" format.

"We welcome the recent progress in the negotiation process. This is the success of all parties and your personal achievement. We are urging the sides to continue this positive dynamics," said Pascal Le Denf, noting the significance of a protocol decision on the participation of Pridnestrovian motor transport in international traffic, which was signed on 24 April in Bendery.

Bilateral economic cooperation was also discussed during the meeting. The ambassador assured Vadim Krasnoselsky of France's interest in the further development of such contacts. The interlocutors discussed Pridnestrovie's exports, a significant part of which goes to the EU today.

"We are calling on you to continue this dynamics and to take advantage of all available opportunities," stressed Pascal Le Denf. Recalling the growing level of Pridnestrovian exports, the president stressed that the country has a lot to offer to international economic partners.

"Pridnestrovie is interested in developing economic ties with France," said Vadim Krasnoselsky.
