Pridnestrovian fighters become European Cup prize winners

The competition was held in Croatia with the participation of athletes from 28 countries

Tiraspol, 15 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The international kickboxing tournament WAKO "European Cup Karlovac Open 2018" was held from 9 to 11 February in Karlovac, Croatia. Over 2,000 athletes from 28 countries took part in the competition. The Moldovan national team included 5 trainees from Pridnestrovian sports schools. All of them returned home with medals, the website of the State Service for Sports reports.

The trainee of Dubossary coach Alexander Kozhuhara Mikhail Zgursky won gold in Light-Contact and silver in Kick-Light in the weight category up to 84 kg among adults.

In the U-18 category, Pridnestrovie was represented by two experienced juniors - Maxim Kazaku and Vladislav Chegurko. By the way, both athletes also won their title fights, which were organized in Karlovac in addition to the official competitions.

In the category of up to 54 kg, Maxim Kazaku fought two combats, defeating Slovakia's Daniel Ďuriš in the first and Italia's Alessandro Franconi in the final fight.

In the weight category of up to 60 kg, junior Vladislav Chegurko did not leave any chance to Israeli fighter Ahmed Afani and won a gold medal.

Cadets under the age of 15, according to the rules of WAKO, compete not in the ring but on the tatami. In this age category, Pridnestrovie was represented by Vladimir Sokolov and Daniil Zachesa.

In the weight category of up to 52 kg, Vladimir Sokolov won two silver medals - in Light-Contact and Kick-Light. Daniel Zachesa achieved the same result in Light-Contact but in the weight category of up to 63 kg.
