Tiraspol, 8 December. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The MFA hosted a meeting of Pridnestrovian foreign minister Vitaly Ignatyev with a delegation of the UK embassy to Moldova, led by ambassador Lucy Joyce.
During the meeting, Vitaly Ignatyev detailed the current situation in the negotiating process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova, giving a positive assessment of the outcome of the "Permanent Conference..." meeting which was held in from 27 to 28 November in Vienna.
However, the minister stated that the Pridnestrovian side had not seen the interest of the Austrian OSCE chairmanship in ensuring the systematic work of the "5+2" format, the MFA's press service reports. He said that in the face of the virtual stagnation of the dialogue Pridnestrovie had acted in a pragmatic manner, focusing on the problems in which the parties had shown mutual interest. The minister noted that it was thanks to that position that documents dealing with socio-humanitarian issues had been signed.
Vitaly Ignatyev underscored that at the current stage the parties needed to undertake a great deal of technical work, including at the legislative level, in order to implement the signed agreements. In this context, according to Ignatyev, the international negotiators should pay special attention to further progress in work.
The interlocutors also discussed the prospects for several projects in the framework of cooperation between Pridnestrovie and the UK. Vitaly Ignatyev thanked Lucy Joyce for providing technical support to the Pridnestrovian fire service and expressed Pridnestrovie's readiness to assist in implementing projects aimed at improving the living standards of Pridnestrovians.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain contact on matters of mutual interest.
