Tiraspol, 28 July. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today, in the Smaller Chamber of the Republican Palace, 49 peacekeepers were awarded state decorations — anniversary medals «25 Years of the Peacekeeping Operation in Pridnestrovie».
The ceremony was attended by President Vadim Krasnoselsky, the head of the government, Alexander Martynov, the deputy chair of the Supreme Council, Galina Antyufeyeva, the head of the Pridnestrovian delegation to the JCC, Oleg Belyakov, and OGRF servicemen.
President Krasnoselsky welcomed the audience in his opening speech. He congratulated them on the 25th anniversary of the peacekeeping operation, noting that this day is a holiday for the entire Pridnestrovian state.
«It is the success of the operation that annoys everyone. That is why there are attempts to replace the peacekeeping operation with all kinds of civilian missions or other formats," the president explained, noting that the peacekeeping mission should be studied instead so that its experience could help to stop other regional conflicts.
Prime Minister Martynov said he did not remember the terrible months of 1992. «My family and I were in Pridnestrovie and felt the horrors of war brought to us by maddened nationalists. And the sense of joy and hope when meeting Russian planes," said Martynov, thanking the peacekeepers for maintaining peace in the country.
In her statement, Galina Antyfeyeva noted the importance of the Russian Federation's timely decision to start a peacekeeping mission and deploying it in Pridnestrovie. «It was this operation that stopped the bloody war and let us live in peace on both banks of the Dniester, noting that the relevance of the presence of peacekeepers in the country had not been exhausted in the 25 years.
The ceremony continued with a festive concert.
