RISS experts intend to hold 'temperature survey' of Pridnestrovian society

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a meeting of a delegation of the Russian Institute of Strategic Studies and representatives of the country's expert community and public organisations

Tiraspol, 14 September. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A RISS delegation, comprising deputy director Tamara Guzenkova and leading fellow Oleg Nemensky, held a meeting today with representatives of the country's expert community and public organisations.

The Russian experts came to Pridnestrovie to take part in the events dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the republican referendum on Pridnestrovie's independence and accession to Russia. They decided, however, to go beyond the scope of lectures and round tables. One of their main objectives of the delegation is to conduct a situational analysis of Pridnestrovian society.

«Lectures are our traditional form of interaction. We give lectures on topical issues of history, economics, political science, ethnology. A special event, held in PSU, will be devoted to formation of historical schools. However, it would be absolutely insincere to say that we do not care about the current economic and political processes in the republic. We are going to discuss topical issues of the social, economic and political development of the PMR and understand in analytical terms what is happening, what are the threats, prospects and growth points in order to realize what is awaiting the country in the near future," explained Tamara Guzenkova.

In other words, RISS experts are intending to hold a «temperature survey” of Pridnestrovian society and the country as a whole.

As noted by Oleg Nemensky, holding brainstorms and situational analysis is a very useful way of determining the measures Russia needs to take to assist Pridnestrovie. «Our goal is to deliver the opinion of Pridnestrovians to Russian authorities, to those who are engaged in practical politics. We, as an expert community, must feel the society about which we write," said Nemensky.

«We do care about Pridnestrovie; besides, this is Russia's moral and political duty to help the republic under present circumstances to maintain social stability," underscored Oleg Nemensky.

The present survey of Pridnestrovian society will result in analytical notes that, as promised, will be submitted to the leadership of the Russian Federation.

It should be noted that the current visit of the RISS delegation is planned. Institute experts try to hold joint activities with their Pridnestrovian colleagues at least once a month. Prior to 16 September inclusive, Tamara Guzenkova, Oleg Nemensky and Yevgeny Biryukov will deliver a series of lectures in Pridnestrovian State University and participate in conferences devoted to the 10th anniversary of the referendum on Pridnestrovie's independence and accession to Russia.
