Bendery, 8 September. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The upcoming elections to Russia's State Duma were discussed at a session of Bendery's city council. MP candidates representing the United Russia party addressed city councillors.
On 18 September five polling stations will open in Bendery. The city itself is assigned to Irkutsk constituency No. 93. As it was noted at the session, cooperation between Bendery and Irkutsk is several decades old.
«Historically, Bendery and Irkutsk are connected through two municipal enterprises. The Moldavcabel plant used to receive aluminium from Irkutsk. Besides, the Pribor plant is part of Russia's Salyut association. Other Bendery enterprises are also connected with Irkutsk in the sphere of aircraft building. Aircraft engines are also assembled there," said chairman of the Bendery city council Yury kara.
Russian candidates expressed readiness to both continue and enhance this cooperation. The day before the Russian delegation had visited the city's major enterprises where United Russia party members spoke with voters, discussed current issues, listened to voters' instructions. At the meeting with Bendery city councillors they spoke about building relations between the two cities.
«Yesterday we visited your plants. We realise there are difficulties in manufacturing and selling products. We are ready to offer you a shoulder of support and promote the signature of agreements. I think this will be the beginning of more active cooperation not only between legislators, but also between executive authorities. On our part we'll try to boost these processes," said the deputy chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Irkutsk region, Kuzma Aldarov.
The 2016 State Duma elections will be held under a mixed system for the first time since 2003: a half of the chamber will be elected on the basis of party lists and another half will represent single-mandate constituencies. The citizens of the Russian Federation residing in Pridnestrovie are requested to use their constitution right and come to the polls.
