President meets Germany's ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Moldova

The development of cooperation between Pridnestrovie and Germany was discussed during the meeting

The Pridnestrovian President Yevgeniy Shevchuk and Germany's ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Moldova, Ulrike Maria Knotz, hold a meeting on the initiative of the German embassy. The development of cooperation in different areas between Pridnestrovie and Germany was discussed. Pridnestrovie's deputy prime minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nina Shtanski, also took part in the discussion.

During the dialogue the president noted the active interaction between the German embassy and Pridnestrovie's governmental authorities.

«The direct cooperation helps to form objective information on the situation in Pridnestrovie. It is both important and valuable for us. The cooperation is underway in the social sphere as well. This is, for instance, the implementation of the project on reconstruction of water supply and disposal systems in the Dubossary district," underscored Yevgeniy Shevchuk.

The president expressed Pridnestrovie's concern over continuing unilateral actions taken by Moldova. This particularly refers to attempts to prevent the proper work of Pridnestrovian enterprises, politically motivated criminal charges brought against Pridnestrovie's authorities, as well as putting them on international wanted list and arresting them abroad.

«Such moves do not contribute in any way to confidence building and dialogue, but bring negotiations to a standstill," noted Yevgeniy Shevchuk.

In addition, attention was given to a foreign trade issue. The parties discussed the prospects for preserving EU market options for Pridnestrovie's manufactures in the next year. During the dialogue the needs to find optimal solutions which will prevent from deteriorating Pridnesterovie's economy, hence the situation of people living here, were highlighted.

In conclusion, the parties emphasised the constructiveness and particularity of the meeting, the president's press office reports.
