The President spoke with Pridnestrovian schoolchildren and students

The capital's gymnasium, lyceum and two comprehensive schools, the lyceum of Bendery, three schools of Dubossary, two schools of Slobodzeya, Parkany, Popenki, Plot, as well as technical schools in Tiraspol, pedagogical college and a special (correctional) comprehensive boarding school in Bendery – all these are educational institutions whose pupils and students distinguished themselves in the literary and creative competition. The authors of essays written based on the story "The Tankman’s Fate" competed. The work is modern – created in 2021. It tells about the events of the Great Patriotic War and how destinies developed after its end. Accordingly, the competition is timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory and the 81st anniversary of the liberation of the Pridnestrovian land from the Nazi invaders. It was held last winter – works were accepted from the 16th of December to the 28th of February. Applications from participants were registered in three categories: grades 5-8, grades 9-11 of general education organizations and secondary vocational education institutions. The topic is divided into three areas: "The Impact of War on the Life of Young Ivan Morozov" (Ivan Morozov is the main character of the work), "Fortitude and Personal Responsibility of the Main Character", "Friendship and Partnership in Wartime". 190 people participated in the municipal stage of the creative competition, 58 works were already evaluated at the republican stage. The winners, who took first, second and third places in their categories according to the decision of the competition committee, received diplomas today. Two works were awarded certificates – this is the choice of the author of the story. The award ceremony took place in the House of Official Receptions of the presidential executive office. The children were told that they would not only receive well-deserved awards, but also talk to the author of the work. Readers know him as Ilya Sokolov. It turned out that schoolchildren and students were in for a conversation and tea with the PMR President. "Ilya Sokolov" is the creative pseudonym under which Vadim Krasnoselsky published the book "The Tankman’s Fate".

The author told what prompted him to write the story, where he got the information from, what goals he set. He noted that this work of art, created on a documentary-historical basis, is intended to draw attention to a variety of socially significant topics, to interest, to push for further study. He said that the book has many plots, there are fictional heroes – these are collective images, and real personalities are also mentioned. According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, each participant in the Great Patriotic War deserves to have his fate described. He shared his impressions of communicating with veterans with the children, emphasizing that such an opportunity is an invaluable asset for any person, and especially for an author describing events in which they were participants. He said that he listened to their opinions about the book with particular excitement. Veterans who read "The Tankman’s Fate" told the author that the book was truthful, said Vadim Krasnoselsky. He noted that creating the work was not easy morally. The author always experiences the events described. According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, he started writing several times, put it aside, and then returned to work again.

The readers in turn told what attracted each of them to the book. Some were especially interested in the description of the development of the Soviet army. Others were closer to the topic of moral growth. Someone especially appreciated the reliability and accessibility of historical facts. The plot lines that reveal the depth and diversity of human relationships were not ignored. The children talked about their research, which they were inspired to do after reading the story. For example, one of the participants in the competition said that she had found information about the main character's full namesake. Ivan Vasilyevich Morozov was an artilleryman and participated in the Iasi-Kishinev operation. Vadim Krasnoselsky said that this was a coincidence. At the same time, he expressed confidence that this Soviet soldier undoubtedly deserves attention and respect.

The Minister of Education of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Svetlana Ivanishina, who took part in the conversation, answered the children's questions and said that, the fundamental thing in Ilya Sokolov's work is the spiritual development of the individual for her, the path taken by the main character and, in his person, an entire generation to God.

The meeting participants discussed the importance of preserving history. Vadim Krasnoselsky told what is being done in this direction in Pridnestrovie. He invited the youth to take part in thematic events planned for this year. The participants of the meeting exchanged memorable gifts.
