The President was informed about progress in expanding the infrastructure of the checkpoint Bendery (Chisinau)

The need to expand the area of the customs checkpoint Bendery (Chisinau) has been overdue change for several years. The President held off-site and cabinet meetings on this issue. The situation worsened in 2022. The closure of the border with Ukraine increased the traffic flow on the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian sections several times. The most popular direction is Bendery - Chisinau. These are the logistical realities. The effect of the "yellow" level of terrorist threat in Pridnestrovie at the same time requires a more scrupulous, and therefore time-consuming, inspection of citizens and vehicles crossing the border. The infrastructure capabilities of the checkpoint did not correspond to the load. Instructions were given to create additional lanes and a parking lot for heavy trucks. The PMR President asked today about progress in implementation. The responsible departments are the Bendery State Administration and the State Customs Committee.

Deputy Head of the Bendery State Administration Lyudmila Shelenkova recalled that about 3.3 million rubles were allocated from the Road Fund for the implementation of the project. Construction work is almost complete. Another 839 thousand are the costs of installing a specialized fence and line painting. This stage is also in the final stage. The facility is expected to be commissioned by the end of October. Vadim Krasnoselsky set a deadline of November 1 for launching traffic according to the new scheme. We are talking about the movement of heavy trucks with imports. These vehicles entering the territory of the checkpoint from the Moldovan side will go to the right to a specially equipped parking lot, without backing up traffic. As for exports, the final decision has not yet been made. They are testing the option of using the same parking lot, and will also work out the possibility of equipping a similar site or a third traffic lane on the opposite side. The President listened to the opinions of the Chairman of the State Customs Committee Valentin Grabko, the Minister of State Security of the PMR Valery Gebos and the co-chairman of the joint control commission from Pridnestrovie Oleg Belyakov. He asked about the provision of personnel. They also discussed other issues related to the creation of conditions for the prompt and comfortable passage of the customs clearance process.
