The PMR President held a meeting with the British Ambassador

Regular meeting of the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Her Majesty the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Moldova Steven Fisher was held at the presidential executive office. The Foreign Minister of Pridnestrovie Vitaly Ignatiev and the representative of the British Embassy Yulia Gutulyak took part in the discussion. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted, welcoming the interlocutors that more than four months, full of events, pass since the former conversation in February. The PMR President emphasized that Pridnestrovie should not be a hostage to the geopolitical situation that has developed due to the deterioration of relations between other states.

The participants of the meeting discussed a number of topics in detail. For example, they talked about the PACE's decision to recognize Pridnestrovie as a territory occupied by the Russian Federation. "I understand that this is a decision from the case of anti-Russian sanctions. But Pridnestrovie is not optimistic about this decision", Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized. He recalled that simultaneously with the current decision of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the 1992 Agreement on a Peaceful settlement is in force that spelled out the right to stay of the Russian peacekeeping forces in Pridnestrovie. The provisions of these two documents are mutually exclusive, the PMR President noted.

Vadim Krasnoselsky said that the republic remains faithful to the position indicated earlier: the armed forces of the PMR and a group of Russian troops, which is with a peacekeeping mission in Pridnestrovie, do not have plans for armed aggression against neighboring states – even against the background of terrorist attacks and provocations. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that he divides politicians, regardless of their nationality, into two categories: those who benefit from the conflict, and those who do not.

The British ambassador said in turn that the state he represents wants to know what impact the Russian-Ukrainian conflict has on other countries. Steven Fisher noted that he arrived in Tiraspol to receive reliable information from the original source regarding the consequences directly for Pridnestrovie. The diplomat noted that he welcomes the commitment of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic to the principles of peaceful settlement of any issues.

The interlocutors talked about the negotiation process with Moldova. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that the republic stands for the continuation of the dialogue. The PMR President stated that there are contacts, work is underway, but there are a number of incomprehensible actions of some Moldovan politicians that do not bring positivity to relations. It is necessary to continue the process, using other mechanisms in the absence of an opportunity to negotiate in the "5 +2" format, the President emphasized.
