Tiraspol, October 29. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Pridnestrovian delegation to the Joint Control Commission (JCC) called on the Moldovan side to prevent aggravating the situation in the Security Zone on polling day during the presidential elections in Moldova.
“In the context of numerous statements made by the political forces and militarist organizations of the Moldova Republic about plans to use force to prevent Moldovan citizens permanently residing in Pridnestrovie from voting, we urge you to make efforts to ensure stability, personal security of citizens and law and order in the area of responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces. We warn the Moldovan side against any plans to implement threats to the physical security of Pridnestrovians who made a decision to vote on the territory of the Republic of Moldova on November 1, 2020. We also call on the Moldovan party to refrain from the practice of blocking the exit of military observers of the three sides and Ukraine if incidents occur. In case of provocations, the Moldovan side will bear full responsibility,” the appeal made by the Pridnestrovian side reads.
As the Co-Chairman of the JCC from Pridnestrovie Oleg Belyakov noted in an interview with our correspondent, on the eve of the elections in the Republic of Moldova there are calls made not to allow residents of the PMR to participate in the voting by any means.
“We see that at the peacekeeping posts, at the posts of the Pridnestrovian law enforcement agencies, some persons scatter leaflets urging not to let the citizens of the PMR, who have Moldovan passports, to the elections in the RM. They threaten a blockade, threaten to block bridges. In these conditions, if there is any aggravation, the peacekeeping forces will have to react to it,” the Co-Chairman noted.
According to Oleg Belyakov, the regular meeting of the JCC was disrupted by the Moldovan side.
“The Moldovan side deliberately went for disruption again. And it is obvious here that some narrow political goals are being pursued, since the issues that the Moldovan side is trying to include in the agenda have nothing to do with the peacekeeping operation. Representatives of the Republic of Moldova want to interfere with law enforcement agencies` work, change the structure of the peacekeeping forces,” he added.
