Thomas Mayr-Harting was appointed as Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement

Austrian diplomat replaced the former Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini

Tiraspol, January 9. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Austrian diplomat Thomas Mayr-Harting was appointed as Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Moldovan-Pridnestrovian Settlement. This was stated on the official website of the organization. Mayr-Harting replaced the former Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini.

Previously, Mayr-Harting represented the EU in the 5 + 2 format (Pridnestrovie and Moldova are parties; Russia, Ukraine, the OSCE are mediators; the EU and the US are observers). In 2017, as part of the EU delegation, the Austrian diplomat met with the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky and the PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev.

Since January 1, 2020, the OSCE chairmanship passed from Slovakia to Albania.
