Russian Ambassador: Russia is doing everything to resolve the humanitarian crisis in the interests of Pridnestrovians

The Moldovan authorities should also take concrete actions to resolve the problems of Pridnestrovie, Oleg Ozerov believes

Tiraspol, January 17. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Russian Federation is doing everything to stabilize the situation in Pridnestrovie and resolve the current grave humanitarian crisis in the interests of the residents of the PMR. This was stated by Russian Ambassador Oleg Ozerov at a meeting with the President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky.

The Russian diplomat noted that he arrived in Pridnestrovie to see the real state of affairs on the spot.

"Russia's most important concern is solving the problems of the people. First of all. We can only welcome the fact that the Moldovan side constantly states that its population is here and must be protected. We would like to see concrete steps towards resolving the problems of Pridnestrovie as soon as possible. Moreover, the Russian Federation, for its part, has taken all necessary measures to rectify the situation and will adhere to this position in the future,” the Russian Ambassador noted.

He emphasized that there have been many contacts with the Russian Federation on the topic of the energy crisis in Pridnestrovie.

“The Russian leadership supported the position on the need for a speedy resolution of this humanitarian crisis, which we do not consider political, and do not associate with any political problems. We believe that this is a humanitarian problem. We hear the same from the OSCE representatives. We hear this from other Western representatives. We proceed from the fact that in the current situation this problem should be depoliticized and resolved in the interests, first of all, of the population of this region,” Oleg Ozerov emphasized.

Let us recall that on January 1, due to the termination of Russian gas transit through the territory of Ukraine and the unsettled financial relations between PJSC Gazprom and JSC Moldovagaz, gas supplies to Pridnestrovie were interrupted. As a result, gas supply to villages and private residential buildings in cities has been cut off, heat and hot water supply to apartment buildings has been cut off, and rolling blackouts are in effect. Due to the crisis situation in the energy sector, a state of emergency has been declared in the PMR.

On January 15, PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky announced that Russia would soon begin humanitarian gas supplies to Pridnestrovie. An agreement on this was reached at the level of the Russian Ministry of Energy. However, recent events show that gas supplies are encountering opposition from Moldova, which is seeking to aggravate the humanitarian crisis in the PMR.
