An attempt to insult and humiliate the people of Pridnestrovie - Supreme Council on the OSCE PA Resolution

The Parliament of Pridnestrovie called on the OSCE PA to refrain from circulating unmotivated accusations

Tiraspol, July 10. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Supreme Council adopted a statement regarding the destructive position of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. The document says that the Resolution is “a set of clichés, accusations and unsubstantiated allegations” that are not consistent with the reports of the OSCE - including the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights T. Hammarberg.

The Supreme Council noted the lack of impartiality and objectivity of the OSCE PA Resolution and perceived it as an attempt to “insult and humiliate the people of Pridnestrovie.”

The Parliament of Pridnestrovie noted that the OSCE PA Resolution ignored Moldova's massive violations of the rights of PMR citizens: economic pressure, blocking the supply of medicines, the adoption of a law on separatism, intimidation of the residents of Pridnestrovie, blocking the international negotiation 5 + 2 format, terrorist threat.

The Supreme Council called on the OSCE PA “to rethink and reconsider its approaches and role in the Pridnestrovian settlement as soon as possible and to continue to refrain from circulating unmotivated accusations.” Such approaches “exclude opportunities for constructive interaction and hinder the achievement of a lasting and fair settlement of the conflict,” the Pridnestrovian Parliament said in a statement.

Statement of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Regarding the Destructive Position of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly

Having got acquainted with the section of the Bucharest Resolution of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly dedicated to the settlement of relations between Pridnestrovie and neighboring Moldova, the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic considers it necessary to note the following.

The said Resolution was adopted without the participation of delegations from a number of states that were not physically allowed to attend the assembly meeting in Bucharest. It appears that the OSCE PA did not strive for either objectivity or balanced decision-making.

The resolution is a set of certain cliches, accusations and calls, most of which are in the nature of unsubstantiated allegations and are not consistent with previously submitted reports by the OSCE - including those of the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights T. Hammarberg. The call for the “immediate and unconditional release of all detainees” is of concern - apparently implying the total release of all criminals: murderers, rapists, drug dealers and other persons serving deserved punishment in accordance with the law, who posed a danger to the life, health and safety of the population Pridnestrovie. It should be noted that the resolution lacks impartiality and objectivity.

The Supreme Council notes that the language used by the OSCE PA is an attempt to insult and humiliate the people of Pridnestrovie, state authorities and citizens, completely ignoring the constructive role of the Pridnestrovian side in maintaining the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian dialogue, as well as in maintaining stability and security throughout the regional space. At the same time, the signatories of the document ignored the existing problems associated with the massive violation by Moldova of the rights of citizens of Pridnestrovie, the use of blockade and restrictive measures, obstruction of the supply of medicines and medical equipment, illegitimate economic extortions, restriction of the work of industrial enterprises, the adoption of repressive criminal norms in the legislation of the Republic of Moldova, mass intimidation of Pridnestrovian citizens, artificial blocking of the 5 + 2 international negotiation format, as well as an unprecedented terrorist threat to our republic.

We believe that statements by OSCE parliamentarians in this context neutralize the efforts of international participants in the settlement process, including the OSCE executive structures, to preserve the conditions for a peaceful, civilized dialogue between Pridnestrovie and Moldova.

We call on the OSCE PA to rethink and reconsider its approaches and role in the Pridnestrovian settlement as soon as possible and to continue to refrain from circulating unmotivated accusations, since such approaches exclude opportunities for constructive interaction and hinder the achievement of a lasting and fair settlement of the conflict.
