Bendery, June 27. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The course of official Chisinau towards further militarization of the country is causing concern in Tiraspol. This was stated by the co-chairman of the Joint Control Commission from Pridnestrovie Oleg Belyakov, commenting on the visit to Moldova of the Chief of the General Staff of the Romanian Army and his subsequent statements. On June 25, Romanian General Gheorghita Vlad held a meeting with the Moldovan Minister of Defense Anatoly Nosatii and the commander of the National Army Eduard Okhladchuk. As Moldovan media reported, the parties discussed issues of bilateral military cooperation, modernization of the National Army, as well as regional security.
“The militarization of the Armed Forces of Moldova cannot remain without our attention. They are being modernized, their combat readiness is increasing, and different types of weapons are being supplied. This is all leading to something. It is necessary to maintain stability within the framework of relations between Moldova and Pridnestrovie. The President of the PMR calls for this: to maintain peace and stability, so as not to rattle weapons at each other under any circumstances. Of course, we treat this with great concern, but we are still talking exclusively about peace,” said the head of the Pridnestrovian delegation to the JCC Oleg Belyakov.
Almost incessant military exercises near the Security Zone are causing no less concern in Pridnestrovie. Experts note the presence of military equipment and various types of weapons at the training ground in Bulboki. And all this happens directly near the border with Pridnestrovie.
