Tiraspol, February 16. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. By preventing the delivery of medical equipment to Pridnestrovie, Moldova is violating the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, as well as the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This is stated in the addresses of the President of the PMR to the Director General of the World Health Organization Tedros Ghebreyesus and the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Mirjana Spoljaric-Egger.
The head of state informed the heads of international organizations that after the escalation of the armed conflict on the territory of Ukraine, Moldova repeatedly interfered with the maintenance and repair of diagnostic equipment installed in healthcare institutions in Pridnestrovie.
In May 2023, Moldova did not allow the delivery of an X-ray tube to Pridnestrovie for warranty service of a tomograph installed in the Republican Hospital for Disabled Persons of the Great Patriotic War. Only with the assistance of international organizations it was possible to bring this part to Pridnestrovie three months later. Meanwhile, due to equipment downtime in the hospital for disabled people of the Great Patriotic War, the tomograph of the Republican Clinical Hospital was used to the limit of its capabilities and at the beginning of 2024 also failed. Its repair is also blocked due to politicized measures from Moldova.
In addition, in October 2023, Moldova blocked the delivery to Pridnestrovie of a new X-ray machine for the Republican Tuberculosis Dispensary. As a result, the program for the prevention and control of tuberculosis, agreed upon with international organizations, was under the threat of failure. Due to the impossibility of delivering spare parts, the repair of the X-ray machine at the Republican Dentistry was blocked. There was a threat to the implementation of the guarantee program to provide free orthodontic care to children.
“Officials of the Republic of Moldova stated that Moldova intends to interfere with the process of servicing and repairing all X-ray equipment in medical institutions of Pridnestrovie: tomographs, X-ray machines, fluorographs, etc. Thus, almost all medical activities dependent on conducting x-ray studies, including in the field of traumatology, the fight against cancer and the spread of tuberculosis,” - Vadim Krasnoselsky says in his address to the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The head of state asked the heads of international organizations to intervene and assist in unblocking the supply of necessary medical equipment to Pridnestrovie or to provide this equipment as humanitarian aid.
