The PMR President held a meeting with the Pridnestrovian clergy

Meeting of the PMR President and representatives of the Tiraspol-Dubossary diocese was held at the presidential executive office. The delegation of clergy was headed by Vladyka Sawa. He was accompanied by cathedral deans of ten Pridnestrovian cathedrals, temples, house churches, as well as the archbishop's adviser for culture and education. They talked about history, development and strengthening of Orthodoxy in Pridnestrovie, the interaction of church and state.

The Tiraspol-Dubossary diocese celebrated its 25th anniversary. It was created in its current form on the 6th of October. The meeting participants noted at the same time that the revival of local Orthodoxy is directly related to the modern history of the republic, with the creation of Pridnestrovian statehood. The Bendery Vicariate was created on the 2nd of September, 1990, and the Dubossary Vicariate later, in July 1998, covering all Orthodox parishes located on the territory of Pridnestrovie (there were 27 of them at that time). The interlocutors said, that about a hundred more churches have been restored and built over the past quarter century. They recalled various facts, stories, events, names of specific people associated with the revival and creation of churches that appeared on the Pridnestrovian Orthodox map.

The meeting participants talked about the role of the church in the formation of Orthodox Christian culture, education, and the unity of society. They focused upon topics related to geopolitics, economics, social, youth, and tariff policies. The clergy emphasized that it was important for them to know the position of the country's leadership on a wide range of issues in order to be able to convey reliable information to their parishioners.

Infrastructure projects, both related to the construction and improvement of churches, and aimed at improving the living conditions of Pridnestrovians and modernizing public space were discussed in the course of the meeting. They exchanged opinions, ideas, and best practices. A proposal was received to allocate space in the future Pridnestrovian State Museum for the exposition of the Russian Orthodox Church. Work will be done to create an exhibition fund while construction of the museum quarter is underway. They discussed the need to restore the Rybnitsa church. There is a need to improve the area adjacent to the Dubossary Cathedral. The opportunity is being sought to pave the church yard with paving slabs. The question of intensifying Orthodox educational activities in educational institutions was raised. An extended meeting will be held in the near future with the participation of representatives of the diocese, the Ministry of Education, and educational institutions.

During the official part of the discussion event, Vadim Krasnoselsky awarded the diocese celebrating the anniversary with the Order of Honor. A number of clergy were also awarded state awards.
