School meals availability – the topic of the meeting under the President

The nutrition of children in schools and kindergartens was discussed in the course of the meeting under the President. Vadim Krasnoselsky, opening a working discussion on this socially significant topic, spoke about the complaints received from the parents of schoolchildren. The main problem is cost. The residents of Tiraspol have the most complaints about this. As for children, they are not always satisfied with the taste and with the serving of dishes most importantly: they say that the tables are laid in advance, and the food cools down by the time they eat.

The heads of state administrations informed about the number of children covered by hot meals in schools and kindergartens at the request of the PMR President. Those receiving aid were singled out. They informed about the cost for those who eat on a paid basis. An analysis of the presented data showed that from 30% to 40% of students eat in school canteens at the expense of parental funds in different regions of the republic. This figure is 20% in Bendery, only 6% in the capital. One of the reasons for the low coverage is the price. If in the districts it is 9-15 rubles, then in Tiraspol it is close to the maximum prescribed in the law - the maximum rate of 29 rubles. Analyzing what the cost difference is connected with, it was found out what the municipal unitary enterprise is preparing for the Tiraspol schoolchildren. The enterprise is commercial, but there is no talk of super profits: the organization is forced to include the cost of salaries and utilities in the price of lunch. These costs are covered by municipal budgets in other settlements. For example, rather low cost was associated with an incomplete supply of necessary food products in Grigoriopol.

The President instructed the Government to hold a thematic meeting to see into all matters and find the best solution. It is important that children receive affordable and high-quality food, Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized.
