Tiraspol, October 3. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Runner from Tiraspol Svetlana Shepeleva took part in the Yenikapı Etabı competitions in Turkey. 2.5 thousand participants came to the start. The Pridnestrovian athlete finished 12th among women and first in her age category.
Svetlana called this performance "non-standard training for the Istanbul Marathon."
“This is a great opportunity to run a pace ten at Yenikapı Etabı. We were lucky with the weather: rain and wind only disrupted age groups` awarding. The track is great, the atmosphere is wonderful,” Svetlana Shepeleva said.
In a month, the runner will take part in the Istanbul Marathon. The unique transcontinental race traditionally takes place in early November in the largest city in Turkey. Runners from all over the world start in the Asian part of the city and cross the Bosphorus Bridge to finish in Europe. This prestigious race has the status of the World Athletics Elite Label Road Race. More than 20 thousand athletes take part in it every year, while in 2019 the number of participants reached 35 thousand people. On November 6, the Istanbul Marathon will take place for the 44th time.
