2022 is the year of the 30th anniversary of the large-scale armed aggression of Moldova against the Pridnestrovian people. The residents of the republic from March to August recall the tragic events of the spring-summer of 1992. Not a single historical fact was left without attention, not a single date was forgotten in the chronicles of the war against peaceful Pridnestrovie. The republic remembers everyone whose lives were cut short by the tragedy of 1992 today. 804 Pridnestrovians were killed in the war – 533 defenders and 271 civilians. About one and a half thousand people were injured, dozens are still missing to this day.
The first of August was officially declared the Day of Memory and Sorrow in 1994. This is the official date for the end of the war in fact: the warring parties were disengaged on August 1, 1992, the bloodshed was stopped. Grateful Pridnestrovians come to memorial complexes, monuments and graves of the defenders of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic to leave fresh flowers and candles in memory of their feat every year on this day. Today began with the procession of the Immortal Regiment in the towns of the republic.
The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky who took part in organized at the capital's Memorial of Glory commemorative event laid flowers at the Eternal Flame, monuments and memorial plates on behalf of the entire people of Pridnestrovie.
Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed gratitude to the defenders for their feat, addressed words of support to the families of the victims, thanked the Pridnestrovians for reverence for the memory of the departed heroes and respect for the history of the country.
The PMR President at the end of the funeral and commemorative ceremony at the capital's Memorial of Glory laid flowers at the monument to the fallen in 1992, built at the new cemetery in Tiraspol.
