Vadim Krasnoselsky called for the adoption of a document on guarantees of peace and security in Pridnestrovie

The President of the PMR stated this at a meeting with Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Vitaly Tryapitsyn

Tiraspol, July 19. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A delegation of Russian diplomats headed by Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Vitaly Tryapitsyn arrived in Pridnestrovie, the press service of the head of the Pridnestrovian state reports.

At a meeting with the President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky, the Russian diplomat, who officially represents the Russian side in the process of the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement, called the exchange of views on the assessment of the existing situation the main goal of his visit. He pointed to the difficult state of affairs in the negotiation process, stating that “the dialogue is stalling, the work of the 5 + 2 format (Pridnestrovie and Moldova are parties, Russia, Ukraine, the OSCE are mediators, the US and the EU are observers – ed. note) has been paused for a long time."

As the head of the Pridnestrovian state stated, the dialogue should be continued for the sake of peace, but the conduct of the dialogue is hampered by the lack of work in the 5 + 2 format. Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled that the last meeting in the autumn of 2019 was disrupted through the fault of the Moldovan side.

“Since then, on various pretexts, be it a pandemic, hostilities, everything has been frozen, there are nearly no chances for holding meetings of participants in the “Permanent Conference…” format. However, as I said earlier, if the 5 + 2 format is not possible, there should be 1 + 1 contacts. There are political representatives, there is the President, and there are other Moldovan officials who must speak, and must develop compromise solutions on those issues that are not being resolved today. Surely, there are contacts, but there is no breakthrough. Naturally, we must use any contacts to guarantee peace and security - this is one of the most important factors,” Vadim Krasnoselsky said.

The President said that every single foreign interlocutor with whom he debates during working meetings, including those representing the 5 + 2 format, speak of the primacy of ensuring peace. In this regard, the head of the Pridnestrovian state considers it appropriate to document this position.

“There is an idea to appeal to all participants of the 5 + 2 format. Draw up a single document on the guarantees of peace and security of Pridnestrovie. Let everyone sign it since they are talking about peace. Let them put their signature and thereby guarantee peace on our land. Let all those who talk about peace back up their desire with a signature - this will be a joint statement of all participants in the 5 + 2 format on a guarantee of security in Pridnestrovie,” Vadim Krasnoselsky suggested.
