The works to preserve the memory of the Great Patriotic War continue in Pridnestrovie. The Kitskany bridgehead will be updated. This is a historical place. The location was of strategic importance. The offensive of the formations of the 3rd Ukrainian Front began from this point together with the troops of the 2nd Ukrainian Front, the Black Sea Fleet and the Danube Flotilla, during the Iasi-Kishinev operation surrounded and defeated a powerful group of enemy armies and completed the liberation of the Moldavian SSR from fascist invaders. This information is displayed on a massive cast-iron plate fixed on a 35-meter obelisk installed on the bridgehead for the 25th anniversary of the Iasi-Kishinev operation. The author of the monument is the architect Semyon Shoikhet. The memorial is in need of renovation. The upcoming work was discussed today at a field meeting initiated by the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky. The Head of the Slobodzeya administration, heads of a number of ministries of the power bloc, representatives of the regional department of culture and other officials involved in the implementation of the project were invited to the discussion. We are talking only about developments and proposals. Vasily Tishchenko presented a version developed through the district administration. The idea was formulated taking into account the opinion of representatives of the cultural sector and the Tourism Agency. Conclusion was made after discussing the project that this version does not meet the fundamental requirements for such objects. An exchange of views and proposals took place. A preliminary plan was outlined as a result. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized the importance of the information component of the project. The opening of a classical museum on the territory of the springboard is not advisable according to the PMR President at the same time. The object must maintain accessibility and spatial freedom. The visitors will be informed not by museum exhibits, but by granite information canvases. Illustrated data about the Iasi-Chisinau operation, the 2nd and 3rd Ukrainian fronts, the course of fierce battles for the bridgehead, the Heroes of the Soviet Union who took part in the operation, and the veterans of the Great Patriotic War who died on this land will be placed on the memorial plates. The memorial complex in Kitskany will be thematically and expositionally linked to the block dedicated to the Great Patriotic War of the future Pridnestrovian State Museum in Tiraspol.
It is necessary to put in order the territory of the bridgehead, pave a significant area with paving slabs, renew the landscaping, think over the irrigation system and lighting, and carry out work on the obelisk itself. Particular attention will be paid to the observation deck. It is necessary to think over the accompanying infrastructure, Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized. 2 million rubles were allocated from the Capital Investment Fund at the initial stage.
A new draft will be prepared based on the results of the preliminary discussion, its implementation is under presidential control.
