Coach of the Master of Sports in powerlifting Denis Rajul Zinaida Iov said that the competitions were the second most important and ranked in the international sports arena after the XXXII Summer Olympic and XVI Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

“The Paralympic Games are held every four years, while the World Championships are held every two years. The next World Championship will be held in 2023 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This year, this world championship was one of the first official starts of the new pre-Olympic cycle - 2021-2024 for the selection of athletes from all countries and continents for the upcoming summer Paralympic Games, which are scheduled to be held in Paris in 2024,” Zinaida Iov said.

According to her, Denis Rajul took part in a draw in the group B division in the weight category up to 97 kg at the World Championships. Para-athlete from Dubossary, in his successful attempt, managed to fix the lifted bar-bell with a weight of 175 kg, which is by as much as 10 kg more than the qualifying rating minimum set by the International Paralympic Committee. 175 kg is Denis Rajul`s new personal record for the current season, who himself weighs 89 kg.

“After analyzing Denis Rajul`s data of the current performance at the World Championships in comparison with his result shown at the last Paralympics in Tokyo, where he successfully recorded a weight of 172 kg and broke into the TOP-8 athletes from all continents of the planet, we understand that there is efficiency and movement forward, which is the main indicator of the growth of our athlete from Dubossary. By and large, he coped with the intended goals and the set task at this stage of the preparation phase and the training process in full," Zinaida Iov emphasized.

The athlete from Dubossary and his trainer got the right to compete in the European Championships in 2022, as well as in all qualifying rating competitions for persons with disabilities, held under the auspices of the International Paralympic Committee.
