PMR Foreign Affairs Ministry: about 48 Pridnestrovian car owners cannot bring their vehicles home

Such problem will be discussed again at political representatives’ meeting on Friday

Tiraspol, October 20 /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. At present time about 48 Pridnestrovian car owners either cannot return to Rridnestrovie or cannot bring their cars home. About 43 car owners have stuck on Ukrainian territory, another 5 people are still being in Russian territory due to the inability to cross the Russian-Ukrainian border. The Novosti Pridnestrovya news agency was informed about this by the PMR Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Such problem is related to the embargo on entry for cars with Pridnestrovian license plate numbers, which the Ukrainian authorities introduced on September 1. On September 6, Kiev announced that until October 1 it will allow every Pridnestrovian returning home in transit to pass through the border. However, for objective reasons, many car owners couldn’t meet this deadline.

“All circumstances are different. For example, someone’s wife was giving a birth to a child, and the person naturally simply couldn’t leave her until she gave birth in early October. Someone was in the hospital without communication with the outside world. Someone’s car was being Service Centre, and it was impossible to take it back in time. The problem is strictly humanitarian,” the PMR Foreign Affairs Ministry emphasized.

Every day, the foreign policy department’s employees receive 2 or 3 appeals from Pridnestrovian car owners, who are trying to return home. The list of people is constantly updated here. On October 6, it was handed over to the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Ann Linde by the PMR Foreign Affairs Ministry, but on October 18 to the RM political representative Vladislav Kulminsky. At the next meeting of political representatives to be held this Friday, such problem will be raised again.

The Ukrainian Embassy in Moldova is well aware of the situation. The Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry maintains a constant contact with the Embassy staff, submitting the request to the ambassador on a daily basis. Moreover, the previous week, problem was discussed at a face-to-face meeting by Pridnestrovian diplomats together with the Embassy leadership.

“Additionally, we turned to Russia with a request to help those Pridnestrovians who cannot leave the Russian Federation, that they managed to enter Ukraine and follow in transit to the PMR. Not a single appeal is remained unanswered, we constantly keep in touch with people,” the PMR Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.

Pridnestrovian car owners who find them in a difficult situation after September 1 can contact the Foreign Ministry office@mid.gospmr.org e-mail.

In Kiev and Chisinau, they couldn’t realize that for ethical reasons it’s impossible to endlessly hold the Pridnestrovians cars hostage of politicized restrictions
