The meeting of the Head of the Pridnestrovian State Vadim Krasnoselsky with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Moldova Kestutis Kudzmanas took place at the presidential executive office. There are two years between his previous and current visits to Tiraspol. The break in contacts is due to the pandemic circumstances of recent years. During this time, issues that require reconciliation of positions have accumulated – both in the bilateral Pridnestrovian-Lithuanian interaction, and in relation to the work of the "5 + 2" format. Lithuania is not a direct participant in it, but, being a member of the European Union, monitors the progress of the negotiation process and can influence it. Vadim Krasnoselsky, welcoming the guest, emphasized the importance of direct contact and the value of an open discussion of issues of concern to the parties.
The Lithuanian diplomat noted that the country he represents is in favor of minimizing tension, de-escalating any kind of conflict situations and the widespread expansion of the security zone. Kestutis Kudzmanas asked how the Pridnestrovian side sees the solution to the problems of restricting the movement of Pridnestrovian vehicles. He was interested in the development of foreign trade relations of Pridnestrovie with European countries, noting the positive effect of the signing of the Association Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the EU on a free trade zone, as a result of which the export of Pridnestrovian products to the European direction has noticeably increased. The diplomat noted the high quality of goods produced in Pridnestrovie and the interest in them from foreign consumers. The issue of ensuring environmental safety was raised in the context of resolving issues related to the storage of ammunition in the area of the village of Kolbasna.
The prospects for the implementation of joint Pridnestrovian-Lithuanian humanitarian projects were discussed. Plans for interaction between the two countries, which is guided by the embassy were outlined. They expressed hope that the COVID-19 problem will be solved by joint global efforts, and with it the restrictions that hinder the development of international contacts will become a thing of the past. The topic of football was discussed. The guest congratulated the Tiraspol team on another victory, calling it phenomenal and noting that the Lithuanians, like the whole world, are closely following the successes of the Pridnestrovian footballers.
