Working visit of the PMR President to the Russian capital continues. Numerous meetings have been held at various venues, including the Official Representative Office of Pridnestrovie. Alexander Brod is among the interlocutors of Vadim Krasnoselsky. The Russian human rights activist represents the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights under the President of the Russian Federation, and is the director of the Moscow Bureau for Human Rights. He provided consulting and legal support to Pridnestrovians in Russia. He was in Pridnestrovie, participated as an international observer in the 2016 Pridnestrovian elections as a co-chairman of the Civil Control Association. He monitors the situation with the observance of the rights and freedoms of residents of Pridnestrovie with special attention due to the specifics of his activities.
This is not the first time Vadim Krasnoselsky communicates with Alexander Brod. They met, including in Moscow. Today they discussed various issues related to the protection of the rights of citizens of the PMR. The violation, associated with the manifestation of unfairness on the part of neighboring states, as well as with the systematic failure of Moldova to fulfill the obligations assumed during the negotiations, has become a common practice, the participants in the meeting noted with regret. Vadim Krasnoselsky and Alexander Brod discussed specific examples, general problems and special cases. The current legal norms, including international ones, that protect the rights of citizens in the context of the current situation in Pridnestrovie – restrictions on freedom of movement, bank blockade, economic pressure were analyzed. Vadim Krasnoselsky drew attention to a number of humanitarian problems that entailed these restrictions, including the impossibility of carrying out cargo and passenger transportation and delivering patients with Pridnestrovian intensive care vehicles to medical institutions in Ukraine and Russia.
They also talked about projects, the joint implementation of which is possible in the near future. Discussing possible practical steps aimed at ensuring the rights and freedoms of Russian citizens and compatriots in Pridnestrovie, they planned to hold a thematic round table in Moscow with the participation of Russian and foreign experts.
