Ethnographic Cossack open-air museum can appear in Pridnestrovie

Tiraspol, September 09 /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. An ethno-cultural Cossack camp complex is planning to be established in Pridnestrovie. Such proposal was voiced at today’s meeting between the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky and the Black Sea Cossack army’s leadership.

There are such ethnographic museums in many countries across the world. Mini-settlements are designed to recreate the whole nation or some of its certain class model of living. For instance, houses, interior decoration, equipment and materials, household items, furniture, even the smallest detail conveys the epoch spirit.

As it was noted at the meeting, on the one hand, this’s a good way not only to preserve, but also visualize the outgoing Cossacks’ cultural traditions, whose history Pridnestrovie dates back several centuries. On the other hand, it’s also a very interesting tourist destination for both foreigners and local residents. As a matter of fact, at these locations you can not only walk, but also to spend some time.

“For instance, an arriving family can spend a few days in that places, connect with our traditions, daily routine, lifestyle pattern, get acquainted with traditional crafts, as well as fit on Cossack’s national clothes. Moreover, father and son can mow a grass or undergo the Cossacks ceremonies initiation, mother and daughter can do different household routines,” Oleg Kuruch, the Tiraspol Cossack District’s ataman described.

The museum is proposed to be made as a permanent settlement, which could work all year round. The main idea is a reconstruction of an authentic Cossack settlement in miniature. The territory of the former Sukleyan subdivision No.2, which surface area is about eight hectares of underutilized land was proposed as its settlement place. It situated a few kilometers from Tiraspol in the Odessa direction.

“If we do something, then as it should be with straw-bale houses, cane roof and so on. This will attract not only local, but also visiting tourists. We need a project with all calculations and expenses. In the matter of place, it’s necessary to think; maybe we find a more interesting one, near the Dniester river. For instance, in Sukleya, where, by the way, historically Cossacks settled. It’s important to find non-flooded land in order to preserve all buildings,” the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky commented on. He didn’t exclude that with right preparedness, all necessary works could begin as early as next year, and the Capital Investment Fund could be as one of its sources.
