Tiraspol, August 18. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. From 13 to 15 August, the Junior U-18 Championship of the Balkan Countries in athletics was held in the Serbian city of Kraljevo. Six trainees of the Pridnestrovian sports schools from Tiraspol, Bendery and Kamenka took part in this competition as part of the Moldovan national team, according to the website of the PMR State Service for Sports.
The Balkan Junior Championship brought together more than 400 participants from fifteen countries - Serbia, Moldova, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Austria, Israel, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Azerbaijan and Slovenia. The competition program included medals in thirty athletics disciplines.
The State Service for Sports of the PMR noted solid performance of Valeria Prokopenko from Kamenka. In the discus throwing contest, she threw the piece to the mark of 38 meters 57 centimeters, which brought her the final third place and a bronze medal. This is the first ever award of coach Vasily Lysy`s trainee at official international competitions. In addition, the young athlete from Kamenka scored in the top 10 in shot-put, showing the result of 11 meters 14 centimeters.
Another trainee of the famous coach from the Kamenka sports school, Alexander Mazur, achieved good results. Sixth place in discus throwing - 48 meters 61 centimeters, and also sixth place in shot-put - 16 meters 52 centimeters.
Places in the final ten of the strongest were won by the trainees of the capital's Sports School No. 2 named after V.B. Dolgin. Runner Ksenia Bergiy covered the distance of 400 meters with a result of 1:00:28 in the final race and took eighth place. In the high jump competition, Anna Bulat covered the bar at a height of 1 meter 55 centimeters - this is the ninth result.
The start in Serbia was not so successful for athletes from the Bendery Sports School No. 3. Marina Yusumbeli was unable to complete the competition in the sector for competitions in the triple jump due to an injury and was out of competition. While Nikita Kalinin jumped 6 meters 24 centimeters and ended up in the last, seventeenth place in the final protocol.
