Alexander Kovtun from Pridnestrovie conquered five mountain peaks in the Southern Urals in five days

During the mountain climbers training camp, he walked more than 40 km

Tiraspol, March 16. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Pridnestrovian citizen Alexander Kovtun conquered five mountain peaks in the Southern Urals: in five days of the mountain climbers’ training camp he visited the Dvukhlavaya sopka, Kruglitsa and explored the Otklikny greben from its different sides. The Kruglitsa peak is the highest one – its height is 1,174 meters. According to the mountain climber, particularly this peak as well as its bottom was the most difficult experience for him.

“While we were coming close to the mountain, the weather has been changed three times. Firstly, it was sunny and -18°C, then it’s blowing hard and -20°C, it’s snowing and foggy. The approaching to the peak was difficult, because all pathways lead through the forest, and they were buried in the snow. So, it was a little bit complicated to walk in full kit,” Alexander Kovtun explained.

Alexander went to the South Urals, first of all to perform the 3rd mountaineering sports category. It was necessary to pass several tests and show in practice what he was capable of. The mountain climber successfully came through the assigned task.

“I am very satisfied with my results. Despite the weather, I have a lot of positive emotions. I impressed of Southern Urals’ mountains, I will unambiguously return there,” Alexander Kovtun shared.

The mountain climber said that in five days of training, their group was walking more than 40 km. According to Alexander, it was a hard examination. However, the approaches to the peaks are just incredible things.

“When you are walking along a narrow pathway, in the case when a strong wind is blowing, then you are simply swept away. It’s despite the fact that there are a lot of trees and that my weight with my knapsack was about 100 kg,” – the climber shared.

Alexander received a sign and a certificate “the Russian mountain-climber” for the Dvukhlavaya sopka’s ascension.

Alexander Kovtun has been climbing mountains since the year of 2016. He said that at one time he was very impressed by the Dyatlov Pass, which he wants to visit. The Pridnestrovian citizen like other climbers wants to climb into untouched by human places.

The western Elbrus mountain peak (5,642 m) of the Caucasus is the highest one of those Alexander approached. At that time the mountain climber together with the group for 19 days walked more than 180 km.

Our countryman has his own mountaineering philosophy. He says that he doesn’t conquer peaks, but only mounts it. The mountain-climber is convinced that nature cannot be conquered.

“The mountain can accept you or not. But the most important thing is that the mountain would release you back,” Alexander Kovtun noted.

The climber explained that climbing to the mountain peak for him, first of all, is leap of faith. In addition, he emphasized that this’s also a kind of an aesthetic pleasure, because mountains open for you beautiful views.

In the next three years, the mountain climber from Pridnestrovie is planning to receive the “Russian snow leopard” honorary degree in Russian mountain climbing. It’s necessary to climb ten highest the Russian Federation’s mountain peaks to do this, among them are such peaks as Elbrus, Pushkin Peak, Klyuchevskaya sopka and others.
