Tiraspol, January 28. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. According to Andrey Badanov, the head of the Municipal Institution “Department of physical training and sports in Tiraspol”, restrictions, which are in force due to the coronavirus pandemic have made serious adjustments to Pridnestrovian athletes’ trainings and competitive activities.
During the emergency conditions, and then the quarantine restrictions, their training took place in the open air. In September, after some restrictions’ relaxation, sportsmen continued their competitive activities. They took part in both city, republican and international competitions (totally about 86 tournaments). Actually, this year it was possible to attend only12 countries. As a comparison, in the year of 2019 their number reached 30, Andrey Badanov reported.
“Last year we had champions and prizewinners of European and World Championships. Rowers, boxers, wrestlers and kickboxers demonstrated stable results,” the head of the department noted.
According to the website of the physical training and sports department, in last year best results were shown by Kirill Shamshurin (the 1st place in World Cup for rowing nd canoeing, in the city of Szeged, Hungary), Daria Kozorez (the 1st place in European Boxing Championship (in youth category), Budva, Montenegro), Maxim Kazaku (the 1st place in WAKO Pro World Grand Prix, Prague, Czech Republic).
9 athletes from Tiraspol became top ten best Pridnestrovian sportsmen. This is the best indicator over the past five years, Andrey Badanov stressed.
Another important working aspect is the start of a time-phased the “Spartak” sports and health camp reconstruction. Within a short time, a modern modular-type building with 104 seats was erected. On the camp basis, it was possible to conduct a summer health promotion campaign for 144 students of boarding schools.
In Tiraspol, on the basis of 7 sports schools are promoted 30 athletic disciplines. About 3541 students are participating in sports, 210 sports coaches are teaching them.
