Speaker of Parliament: Increase in salaries and pensions is an important direction of the 2021 budget

The Head of the Legislative Branch of Government commented on the adoption in the first reading of the Budget Act for the next year

Tiraspol, December 11. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Chairman of the PMR Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov commented on the important directions of the State Budget Act for 2021. The parliament adopted the draft document in the first reading.

Balanced Budget

Alexander Korshunov recalled that work on the Draft of State Budget Act for 2021 was carried out by the deputies of the Supreme Soviet of the VI convocation.

“There were held a lot of working meetings, and a lot of information was heard from the heads of ministries, departments, agencies, the State Management Company. On the basis of the agreed positions, effective work was done to redistribute financial resources in such a way that when the budget is adopted in the first reading, we can say that the 2021 budget is balanced according to socially protected items. This means that payments of salaries, pensions and other social payments will be in full and on time next year,” the Speaker noted.

Increase in Salaries and Pensions

The budget for next year has allocated 160 million rubles to increase salaries and pensions.

“A reserve of 160 million rubles has been formed for the planned increase in pension and salaries from the projected budget revenues for 2021. The payment mechanism will be formed by a separate working commission: to what extent and in what areas. I hope we will work out a formula, according to which the increase in pensions and salaries will be financed,” the Speaker of the Pridnestrovian Parliament stressed.

AIC Development

Alexander Korshunov noted: the drought in 2019 and 2020 showed that the land-reclamation complex should be developed at a more accelerated pace than before.

“The deputy corps of the VI convocation and the deputies of the VII convocation are focusing all public authorities` attention on the fact that this is a rather serious and urgent topic, therefore, additional sources of financing are needed for the land-reclamation complex development. This is due to the fact that investment in this infrastructure makes it possible to develop the real sector of the economy and obtain a multiplier effect in terms of budget revenues. We all understand perfectly well that the losses incurred by farmers at the end of 2019 and throughout 2020 are significant for our budget. Therefore, we believe that, despite all the difficulties, it is necessary to increase the level of funding in this area. Together with the Government, under the leadership of the President, it was decided to allocate two separate funds with a special purpose. The amount of resources allocated for these areas has been increased by 2-3 times,” the Chairman of the Supreme Council explained.
