Quarantine restrictions extended until February 1, 2021 in Pridnestrovie

Tiraspol, December 2. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A law by the Head of State Vadim Krasnoselsky, which concerns the extension of the validity period of a number of legislative acts aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus infection in the territory of Pridnestrovie, is on the agenda of the online plenary meeting. The document was received in terms of legislative necessity. It is related to the fact that the period of restrictive quarantine measures validity expires on December 16. The PMR President suggests extending them until February 1, 2021. 

“Unfortunately, negative changes continue to prevail, the number of COVID-19 cases is growing. We see all this both in neighboring states and in the world. Only yesterday, in particular, there were 546 people who had become infected with this disease. There are 259 people who have already died to date. Despite the measures that are being taken in our republic, negative changes, unfortunately, prevail, yet, as Vadim Nikolaevich Krasnoselsky said, the situation is under control. So in order to provide an effective mechanism for combating coronavirus infection, it is proposed to extend the validity of a number of legislative acts until February 1, 2021," Radion Chebotar, Head of the Control and Legal Department of PMR Ministry of Internal Affairs explained.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs press center, the number of conformed coronavirus cases has been 13,105 since the beginning of a pandemic. Every day there are more sick people. Among other things, the increase in statistics is due to expanding the number of persons tested.

“We all witnessed that the number of people with coronavirus is growing. In response to this situation, the Operation Headquarters and the President of the PMR took measures in order to continue fight and, accordingly, to extend those activities that are associated with this. Today, the Supreme Council considered, supported and extended the measures that the state and doctors were specifically taking to combat coronavirus infection, to help the residents of our republic," the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Legislation, Law Enforcement Agencies, Defense, Security, Peacekeeping, Protection Rights and Freedoms of Citizens Grigory Dyachenko said.

Due to the new coronavirus pandemic, a state of emergency has been proclaimed in Pridnestrovie on March 17. The state of emergency lasted until June 15, then there were taken quarantine restrictive measures, their effect was repeatedly extended. These are mask regime, keeping social distance, fines for quarantine violation, a special order of crossing the border, and others. The Operation Headquarters are sure that the extension of quarantine restrictions will reduce the spread of COVID-19 among the population and protect Pridnestrovian citizens` health and lives. 

The parliamentarians voted for the adoption of the PMR President's law in two readings at once. According to the PMR Supreme Council website, the document is now awaiting the Head of State`s signature.
