Tiraspol, December 1. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Members of the Presidium of the Supreme Council met with Russian senator, member of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security Sergey Muratov.
During the dialogue, the deputy of the Supreme Council, Alexander Korshunov, informed the guest about the main directions of the work of the Pridnestrovian Parliament and what tasks the deputy corps faces. The chairmen of the committees informed Sergey Muratov about the work in of the Supreme Council committees.
Alexander Korshunov told the Russian senator about the history of the establishment of the state management of Pridnestrovie and all governing bodies of the country. The fact, that the vector of development of our republic was decided by the Pridnestrovians at referendums. The seven referendums were held in our republic. At one of them, the overwhelming majority of citizens voted for the independence of Pridnestrovie with its subsequent entrance into the Russian Federation.
“We strive for this and implement all our decisions and plans, taking into account the decision of our people on this issue. In this regard, our legislation is being harmonized with the legislation of the Russian Federation. There are differences in the tax system, there are differences in the laws on the support of business activity and investment activities. But this concerns more with our position than with the desire to be distinguished. Our education system is fully based on the standards of the Russian Federation. Both secondary education and higher education. Our colleagues from Russia are very helpful here,” the deputy of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov said.
One of the issues, that was raised at the meeting was the simplified procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship by Pridnestrovians, primarily young people.
“We are the territory of the Russian world, we consider ourselves the descendants of Russian traditions and Russian history, and now the history of Russian Federation. However, there are problems with obtaining Russian citizenship by orphans. They don’t have parents, so they cannot obtain citizenship by their parents. Also, children born after 1992 cannot obtain Russian citizenship. Therefore, we have a category of young people who are mentally, with heart and soul connected with the Russian world, but in an inescapable situation they have to get a passport of another country in order to be able to move around the world. But after a person receives a passport of another country, it is very difficult to obtain Russian citizenship,” Alexander Korshunov noted.
“These are our fellow citizens, our brothers. Many Russian citizens are living here. For us, the fate of our compatriots is not indifferent. We pay close attention to it, and all the questions, that arise should not be let go with the flow. We understand, that no matter what happens, any state has its own problems, these problems need to be solved together. I understand these problems well, my relatives live in Dubossary, I know what problems they face. We are ready to discuss them in detail,” Sergey Muratov, member of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security stressed.
In the course of the conversation, they touched on the theme of the elections, that took place in the republic the day before.
“You have arrived at a very important period for our republic: on Sunday elections were held for the legislative body of Pridnestrovie. We are grateful, that you visited the polling places, saw how the electoral process is going,” Alexander Korshunov emphasized.
A member of the Federation Council of Russia Sergey Muratov visited all polling places in the Dubossary district on a single voting day, the parliamentary press service reports.
“The elections were very well organized. Music sounds everywhere, the state of the holiday is in the air. This area is very multicultural and there is no division between Ukrainians, Russians and Moldovans. All together go and vote. I have not seen a single conflict,” Sergey Muratov shared his impressions.
Separately, the Russian senator dwelled on statements from Chisinau, that the Russian peacekeepers should leave Pridnestrovie.
“I think this issue cannot be resolved without the opinion of the Pridnestrovians. There is peace on this territory today. The presence of peacekeepers is intended to safeguard peace,” Sergey Muratov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security said.
