Pridnestrovian rowers on the Russian awards stand again

At the Russian Cup and the Championship in rowing and canoeing, students of Pridnestrovian State University made a good performing

Tiraspol, November 22. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. These days the best rowers from all over Russia compete in Krasnodar. On the line are the medals of the Cup and the National Championship in rowing and canoeing.

The Pridnestrovian rowing school is represented by two canoeists. Both are students of the Pridnestrovian State University named after T.G. Shevchenko.

Daniil Vetrov from Tiraspol finished second in the single sculls test run at a distance of             1000 meters at the Russian Cup.

At the Russian Сhampionship for athletes under 19 years old, another canoeist from Tiraspol, Andrei Laskorunsky, showed excellent results. The young rower won three awards at once. He became the champion in single sculls sprint races at distances of 200 and 500 meters. Laskorunsky took the silver medal in the 1000 meters race.

“The situation with the pandemic greatly brought down the rowers in their results,” Vyacheslav Sokolenko, the head of the State Service on Sports in the PMR and Honored Coach of Russia admitted. – We are glad to have any opportunity to compete and see what we are made of. Our guys performed decently in the Russian arena. It’s heartening to see that.”

Tomorrow, our rowers’ awards may win more medals: within the framework of the Russian Сhampionship, Andrei Laskorunsky will race at a difficult distance of 2000 meters.
